Atari Jaguar – Complete Video Bypass

Zaxour has just released a full bypass mod for the Atari Jaguar, that improves both the audio as well as the video.  This is a #nocutmod, however if you choose to use the Sega Saturn-style 10-Pin MiniDIN the kit comes with, you’ll need to remove the RF box.  Alternatively, you can wire it to the existing output area, which is great if you already own one of those awesome Humble Bazooka adapters – This mod is 100% compatible with all of those and the output quality is the same as using the included DIN.  FirebrandX also helped with testing and posted some awesome installation pics as well – More on that below!  The price is about $50 and they’re in-stock now:

One quick note:  If you’re already doing this upgrade to your Jaguar, you’ll really want to consider also installing Zaxour’s $12 power protection circuit, which will save your Jag if you ever use the wrong PSU.  And if your Jag is already dead from a power issue, Zaxour also has you covered with an entire power circuit replacement board!  You may want to recap the whole thing as well, but that’s up to you – Jag’s aren’t plagued with the same leaky capacitor issue as other consoles, but if you’re spending this much time upgrading, might as well just refurbish the whole thing and never worry about it again.

This is really exciting for fans of the Jaguar, as it’s a pretty big upgrade.  The SNES 2-chip-esque video “smear” is almost completely gone and it’s a noticeable difference.  Also, Zaxour upgraded the audio by tapping the output of the DAC buffer amp and running it through a non-inverting opamp on his board.  Anyone with decent ears should be able to hear the difference there too!

Check out this video from FirebrandX showing it in action!  There’s comparisons, installation guide and demo footage as well!:
