TR Fight Stick has just released a new firmware for their awesome Octopus Fight Stick: A high end arcade-style controller with an integrated Dreamcast VMU, that’s paired with a Brook Gaming controller board to allow for low-latency (3ms via USB!!!) connections to many different platforms. The firmware update addresses some issues, as well as adds six new button layouts for Neo Geo. Also, all orders – including ones placed right now – are expected to ship to customers by the end of the year. Updated User Guide
While I thought the Octopus was awesome and really appreciated borrowing it, I think the best feedback I got was from Beast. We did a great podcast talking about different controllers I’d previously reviewed and spent quite a bit of time discussing his thoughts on the Octopus. I strongly recommend checking that out, either by watching the video below, or just searching any podcast app for “RetroRGB Beast”.
Also, here’s the full list of changes in this firmware:
- Resolved the auto-detection issue for PS3, PS4, PS5, and Xbox 360.
- Fixed several compatibility issues in certain N64 games.
- Resolved some control-related problems on SNES.
- Fixed several control input issues on NES.
- Added 6 new button layouts for NeoGeo (please check the User Guide for details).
