MiSTer FPGA News – Update All, The Fairy Land Story, Taito F2 & More

UpdateAll 2.3

theypsilon has updated UpdateAll again. Now at version 2.3, it includes the following:

  • A log viewer after an update is done. This is a convenient way to see what has been updated. The log viewer is optional but can be brought up manually via it’s own script in the “Scripts” folder.
  • You can optionally download the GBA borders Dinierto compiled.
  • The script will now restart itself when there’s new version of UpdateAll. No need to run it twice.
  • There were more speed improvements and bug fixes.

Wonder Momo, Hopping Mappy

Jotego has added two new arcade games to the JTTHUNDR core. These games are:

  • Wonder Momo, a side scrolling beatem up/fighting game
  • Hopping Mappy, the sequel to Mappy but in a top down perspective

The JTTHUNDR core is currently in beta so it’s only available to Jotego’s Patreon subscribers, however once it is stable it will be released to the public for free.

Pac-Land

Jotego has released a new arcade core that supports Namco’s Pac-Land. Released in 1984, Pac-Land is a side scrolling platformer where you must make it to the end of each stage to return a lost fairy back to its home.

JTFLSTORY Core is Public

Jotego promoted JTFLSTORY to public. This means that you no longer need to be a Patreon subscriber to play games based on this core. Games supported are:

The FairyLand Story
Typhoon Gal
Rumba Lumber
Victorious Nine
NY Captor
and Cycle Shooter/Bronx

System 18

Jotego also continued to inform us on the Sega System 18 core that his team is working on. They recently experienced a breakthrough where they have sprites visible on the games Laser Ghost and Where’s Wally.

  • Laser Ghost is a light gun shooter game.
  • Where’s Wally, also known as where is Waldo in North America, is a puzzle game where you use a trackball to find Wally / Waldo.

There is no release for the core yet as it’s still in heavy development.

MiSTer Main

MiSTerFPGA main has been updated with the following:

  • Saturn and PCE CD fixes (srg320).
  • Add interlaced video vertical filter (zakk4223).
  • Add support for save states in arcade cores (Martin Donlon).
  • video: guard division by zero in spd_config_dv (zakk4223).
  • other tweaks and fixes.

This update should fix a major issue that would crash the RetroTink and MiSTer FPGA when launching PSX games via MGL files.

UpdateAll and Ms Fusion

theypsilon has released a lightweight fork of Mr Fusion called, Ms Fusion. This fork just includes the updateall script and is going to be kept as minimal as possible.

Taito F2

A beta core of the Taito F2 arcade hardware, by Martin Donlon, is available for wider testing. This beta core is even available via the updateall script for easy download.
