Wave Phoenix Firmware Update

Greg from LaserBear just posted a video demonstrating how to use bluetooth and a web app to update the firmware on your WavePhoenix receiver – An open source, community-built replacement for the official WaveBird controller’s receiver.  The latest firmware fixes an issue that prevents the WaveBird from re-syncing after the console was rebooted, so it’s worth doing if you just bought one.  Also, if you’d like to purchase a WavePhoenix, pre-orders are open for a batch that should ship by August:

The update process is pretty straightforward – Basically just put the device in “bootloader mode”, pair it with the web app and follow the on-screen instructions.  There are two ways to enter bootloader mode: First, simply hold the pairing button down until the blinking stops and you get a solid color.  Alternatively, you can unplug the WavePhoenix, hold the button, then plug it into the console with the button still held down.  If you flash the wrong firmware, simply re-flash by using the second method.

Videos like this are great though, as it helps everyone walk through the process without worrying about missing a step.  Definitely check it out if you have a WavePhoenix, or have one on the way!
